Folding For Travel Or Storage

Please note : When storing shirts it is best to keep them on hangers with the collar turned down and the buttons done up to maintain the shape of the shirt. If you are not able to store your shirt on a hanger when you have finished ironing it please follow the instructions below on how to fold a shirt correctly.

  1. Fold the shirt immediately after ironing it.
  2. Fasten every button on the shirt and lay it on a flat surface with the buttons facing down. Try to get the shirt as flat as possible.
  3. Fold one side of the shirt over to the middle so there is a vertical fold running down from the middle of the shoulder.
  4. Next fold the sleeve downward. If the shirt has double cuffs, turn the cuff flat on its side.
  5. Now fold the other half over in the same way as the first.
  6. Fold the second sleeve in. The shirt should now be a long rectangle. It should not get narrower toward the bottom.
  7. Next, fold the bottom of the shirt up towards the centre of the shirt so it reaches about half-way up.
  8. Then fold the bottom half again so it reaches the collar.

When travelling, place a sheet of tissue paper in the shirt when it's laid flat before you start folding it. This will reduce the creasing effect of folding the shirt.
